Flexibility
Fiery Impress is an off-the-shelf solution that reduces development effort and costs for press manufacturers. Fiery’s new, proprietary DataXpress application includes ready-to-go code to integrate with printhead electronics, enabling Fiery Impress to be streaming VDP to a new press in less than a week. Plus, press manufacturers that choose Global Inkjet Systems (GIS) printhead electronics receive plug-and-play support for Fiery Impress and can be in streaming production on day 1.

Fiery Impress also makes it easy for press manufacturers to customize settings to specific customer requirements, like format (roll/sheet), custom resolutions, drop size and volume, and process ink support (CMYK, white, orange, violet, etc). In turn, Fiery Impress automatically generates new screens on-the-fly.

Whether it’s a 100% digital press, or an inkjet engine mounted on a flexo press for a hybrid setup, end-customers are up and running, fast. With an open architecture, Fiery Impress can fit seamlessly in any workflow. Customers can use Fiery’s industry standard job management interface, Command WorkStation, or they can integrate Fiery Impress with existing job queue tools.

Color quality
Fiery Impress produces the highest quality press output with new advanced screening technology that leverages printhead-level optimization, plus new image-based missing nozzle and density compensation, to reduce print defects and ensure consistent quality from the first print to the last. Fiery color management tools enable exceptional color consistency and brand color accuracy to help customers match industry standards and customize color to match client specifications.

Performance
Stream full VDP directly to printhead electronics at the highest quality and at maximum press speed. Fiery Impress provides the horsepower that enables customers to quickly respond to a changing set of market demands, from one-off proofs and versions to short runs and the longest runs supported on press.

Easing the digital transition
Fiery Impress helps customers transition more analog work to digital, which can drastically decrease makeready time and costs, and add capacity to produce more profitable short run jobs. With the Fiery Smart Estimator, staff can project ink costs prior to production and determine whether the job can be run more cost-effectively via analog, digital, or using a hybrid approach.

Seamless integration with Esko prepress workflow and color management software to Fiery Impress provides plant-wide consistency across analog and digital presses. Built-in tools help customers automate manual processes to reduce job touches and reduce errors.

The Fiery Smart Estimator provides accurate estimations for projected ink/toner cost and usage on Fiery Driven presses. Enhancements for 2024 include a new cloud-based component that anyone in a print operation can use to estimate ink usage for a job - even if they don’t have access to the Fiery server.

Two separate functionalities cater to differing needs throughout a print operation:

Server-based
The core server-based Fiery Smart Estimator capabilities are ideal for operators, prepress managers, or even estimators that can access the Fiery server through Fiery Command WorkStation job management interface. The Fiery Smart Estimator RIPs the job and then provides the estimated cost per color of ink/toner required for the job. For some presses, an estimation of the volume of ink required is also available. These estimations are dynamic and can change as properties, such as the number of copies, are adjusted.

Cloud-based
This new cloud-based functionality provides these same ink estimation capabilities to a new group within a print operation: those who do not have access to the Fiery server, such as customer service reps (CSRs) and sales reps, as well as estimators. As this functionality is independent from the Fiery server, there is no interruption of production.

Users upload a job to a secure cloud application that hosts a virtual version of the specific Fiery server in that shop. In addition to setting attributes like number of copies, drop size, and resolution, users can also choose a color profile or upload a custom one. After processing the file, the Fiery Smart Estimator provides the estimated ink volumes and cost for the job. An Excel document that contains a breakdown of ink volume, coverage, and cost per page is also available. This Excel document can be imported into the company's MIS or estimation software. Or, the Fiery Smart Estimator can send the information directly to select third-party applications via APIs.
